NextRide: Bike coaching for your team.

Getting an e-bike through Workride is a fantastic benefit, but for many employees, it's still a significant purchase. With so many options and price points, the process can be overwhelming. Choosing the wrong bike can be an expensive mistake that undermines the goal of a better commute.

To ensure your staff feel confident and get the right bike the first time, expert, independent advice can make all the difference.

While Workride is independent of any training provider, we are passionate on making the cycling industry grow together.

Why Nextride? Nextride are specialist educators focused on transport riding in Auckland. They do not sell e-bikes, so you can be confident your employees will get impartial advice tailored completely to their individual needs.

We've connected with Nextride to highlight some of their event modules that you can purchase directly from them to support your team. They are based in Auckland but regularly work in Hamilton, Tauranga, and Whangarei, and can travel further afield on request.

Nextride's instructors are NZQA Qualified against the national BikeReady standards. They are trusted professionals who typically work directly with Sustainable Transport Planners in local and central government, as well as the Health, Safety, and Environmental teams

Here are some of the practical sessions Nextride can run for your organisation:

1. Electric Bike Q&A

  • Best for: Answering initial questions and building interest in a relaxed, informal setting.

  • What's Involved: A drop-in Q&A session with a qualified e-bike instructor and a demonstration bike. Can cover any topic related to buying and using e-bikes.

  • Logistics: Up to 2 hours. Ideally run in a lunch or meeting room for easy access.

2. Try an Electric Bike

  • Best for: Giving staff hands-on experience and building confidence before they buy.

  • What's Involved: Employees book 20-minute slots (up to 3 per slot) with an instructor and a few different types of e-bikes. Covers a skills check, an intro to electric components, and a test ride.

  • Logistics: Minimum 2 hours. Ideally run in a large, safe area like a company car park, courtyard, or adjacent park.

3. Buying Support

  • Best for: Helping employees who are serious about buying to narrow down their options and make a smart purchase.

  • What's Involved: In a 20-minute booked slot, employees work with an instructor to develop a clear features list, a realistic budget, and a strategy for managing the in-store experience. Includes one month of follow-up support.

  • Logistics: Minimum 2 hours. Can be run in a meeting room.

4. Electric Bike Optimise

  • Best for: Staff who have already received their new bike and want to get the most out of it.

  • What's Involved: A 20-minute one-on-one session with an instructor covering bike ergonomics, a Q&A on features, and the equivalent of a "WOF" safety check on the employee's actual bike.

  • Logistics: Minimum 2 hours. Ideally run at the bike locker or parking area your staff use.
